I'm pregnant!

28 April 2009I tested with the pregnancy test kit, and it's positive. It was well before work, but I didn't intend to let anyone know. Cos the very first thought I had was - confusion. I know I can't be aborting. But would keeping be the best choice out here. I'm leaving my current job in a month's time, boyfriend's still studying. No one will be working just yet. There's tons to consider.

So I took the journey to work to think about how long has the baby been in me. I went Bangkok with boyfriend during February, and that time, there were some blood discharges for two days or so. I simply dismissed as period, cos mine's only around 3 days. March was the same too, and dates fitted in really well, I took it off my mind as menstruation.

And one very important point to note, there's no bulge/bump/anything like that at all. I didn't once suspected that I'm pregnant myself. And I'm obviously not some kid who would deceive herself saying 'My period will come the next month'. I shared this with one of my close friend. And arranged my off day to get to the polyclinic to double confirm my test results, on 1 May Labour Day.

Polyclinic's freezing cold and all I could remember is collecting urine is the part I hate most. Anyway, it's over, and it's triple confirmed that I am pregnant, but so far, I do not know how many months pregnant I am. So I decided to go to do a thorough check on my baby on the net appointment.

The damn polyclinic arranged for 15 June 2009 with SGH. It's frigging long! So I called up KKH and arranged for an appointment, earlier one - 11th May 2008. Had my referral letter edited and waited for 11th May 2008 to come.

So on 10th May, I decided to take a huge step of courage to tell boyfriend about it. I told him that I'm afraid and I don't know if I should keep the baby or not. That night we talked a lot. He said no matter what, we're gonna need to face it together. Told boyfriend of my appointment tomorrow and he's gonna go together with me. And very well, that night there's thunderstorm throughout our conversation. We ended our conversation happily at around 4AM in the wee hours, and the thunderstorm happily ended too.

Appointment's at bloody early, 9.20AM! Anyway, reached on time and waited around 1 hour before doing the actual scan. Before that, there's height and weight taking and blood pressure taking. So during the scan, I could very well see the baby's head and body. I've never seen something like that before and it's a somehow weird feeling.

So I got off the scanning bed, and just before leaving the room, I asked the doctor, how many weeks am I pregnant, the doctor says, 'Around 19 weeks. The baby's 18.9 weeks old.' And seriously, all sorts of common sense or maths didn't exist, I could figure out how long was that. Boyfriend simply said that it's almost 5 months.

Goodness, I was astonished! 5 months is like in January? And 5 months with no bulge? I don't feel anything different. No morning sickness, no cravings, no backache, no mood swings. Nothing at all. It was quite a piece of information to gulp. So we had a small discussion, to keep the baby or not. I guess more or less in my mind, I'm gonna keep this baby. It's just some discussion we need to do. It's a 5 month old fetus, and I'm already half-way through pregnancy. The doctor also added that if I'm gonna abort, I need to go through normal delivery. I shudder at the thought of it.

18 May 2009I've decided to keep the baby and by this time, boyfriend's family and my family's informed of this. I didn't tell all my friends about it, just 3 friends. And 2 colleagues. Today's the first checkup I'm gonna have with Dr Irene Chua at The Private Suite at KKH. Boyfriend and my mummy came with me. Everything went well, and most importantly, my gynae says that baby's good. And all. (: We even saw baby's heart beating during the scan!

The bad part came when me and boyfriend had to do blood test! And darn this blood test, I got freaked out totally when I know I had to poked by needles. It's really a very disgusting feeling. And the nurse's gonna take 3 tubes of blood from me! I almost fainted at that thought.

After the checkup, we had our dinner at Lavender Food Centre. And headed home. My next appointment is on 27th May 2009. And it's gonna be a detailed scanning. (: I'm looking very forward to it. I wanna start buying stuffs for my baby. Photo albums, baby stroller, baby cap, etcs.

My estimated delivery date is 5th October 2009. ^^

24 May 2009On 22 May 2009, my dad and mummy had dinner together with boyfriend's dad and mummy. To talk about some stuffs, actually I wasn't listening much though. All the dialects, I couldn't figure out at all.

That night, boyfriend and I were watching TV at home and I felt something in my tummy. Before this I didn't feel anything. No baby kicking. And that night I felt it, many times in a row. I confirmed it more than 3 times, and I asked boyfriend to feel it too. (: The feeling's so magical!

So today I decided to create a blog, simply to keep track of the last 4 months of pregnancy. (: And to blog about those small little stuffs during pregnancy, to share with my friends or anyone who's interested in knowing. (:
